Sony Silent over Playstation 4 Claims

In recent months Sony have continued their silence over growing speculation regarding the possibilities of a next generation console, e.g the PS4. In the past, the company giants have insisted the Playsation 3 had a life expectancy of at least 10 years before any successor would emerge.

However, with such rapid advances in technology, and rumors of the ' Xbox 720 ', many gamers have been led to believe the next console in the Sony family will not be as far away as first thought. In fact, release dates are still circulating online, suggesting 2011/2012 being the most likely release date of the Playstation 4.

ThePS4Forums Take: We believe any official Sony announcements confirming the PS4 are unlikely before late 2010. However, with Microsoft already hinting that their next console is unlikely to be more than a few years away... can Sony really afford to be beaten on release dates again?

Wow, this is exciting. I always thought the 10 year life expectancy was a bit fishy. I mean, think about how much technology has advanced in the past 10 years, I was playing golden eye on the N64 back then!

I'd give it around 5 years tops before we need a new console.

Am waiting for it to release.. It will be a great one.. The 3D of it will be very great as no one can explain it..

We have to remember than technology really advanced from the 90s to the 21st century, so we can't expect such a huge change. A 1995 game and a 2005 game will have a way bigger difference than a 2005 and a 2015 game. Still, I think 2012 could be the release date of the PS4. I just hope sony is keeping quite so they don't over hype the console, not because they haven't thought of it yet.
