I think it will cost around $300-400 bucks this time around. Especially if they stick with Blu-Ray. No matter what GPU/CPU is in the console. The cost of Blu-Ray alone in the PS3 caused its delayed game development and halted some buyers from buying it due to the cost of the system. Very risky thing Sony did. It is paying off now and in next couple of years with mass production of slimmer models, but its still bold of them.
Although with Playstation Move and Natal and things coming along its likely PS4 will have Move built in or coming along with the console. Could add a cost to the console. Costing about $500 or so is possible. |

As with all Sony releases the cost is generally on the higher end of the scale, if you wait a while after the release the price is sure to come down a good 50%. However who could wait

I think it will be $399.99, and whatever that translates into in other countries, if other countries aren't gouged. Sony got a lot of negative publicity over the 600, and even 500 dollar price tag, so I think they are going to try to avoid that sort of attention next time around and not push a technology that isn't current.
The PS3 is doing it's share of the work on prepping the market for what is sure to be a fully 3D-HD next gen console, unlike the current one which has to sacrifice it's graphical prowess in order to be able to put out 3D visuals. The next console will have no limitations regarding it's 3D output, whatever it can do in HD will be equivalent to what it can do in 3D, both being visually impressive. |

@FanboyPS3,
While I agree with you in principle that Sony received a lot of negative press surrounding the high launch price for the PS3 - do you think they will be able to keep costs down on the Playstation 4 and still produce a console that is a big improvement on anything that has been released before it? |
