As the PlayStation 4 won’t be announced for some time, speculation is growing about two other gaming platforms from Sony.
a) Sony Ericsson’s “PlayStation Phone,” likely to be called the Xperia Play, as several leaked images and videos have shown.
b) and the long-awaited PlayStation Portable 2 (PSP2) could be unveiled at a special Sony event in Tokyo later this month, reports claim.

The psychological thriller Inception (which starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page), written and directed by Batman director Christopher Nolan, could be headed to PlayStation 4’s, was previously rumored to have a video game adaptation in the works, though a timeline wasn’t known. Inception has grossed over $800 million worldwide since its release in July 2010. More than just a money making blockbuster, the movie has also been a critical success, standing as the 6th highest rated movie of all time on movie site IMDB, and with an 87% fresh rating on reviews aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.

Sony hopes making it easy would mean more sales so the games will no longer be packaged in cases but instead bought online which would make the game buying process more convenient.

The Blu-ray drive is, along with the Cell processor, one of the PS3′s most expensive components. That´s the reason of the PS3′s third place behind the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360. Former Acclaim Entertainment, Inc. boss Dave Perry commented: “Because of the cost of making the PlayStation 3 and because they sold it at a loss, Sony basically has pretty much no chance of making money on the PS3, because it’s lost more money than they made during the entire peak of the PlayStation 2 – it’s not going to happen again for Sony.” If Sony reduces its prices, Blu-ray licensees would be threatened by pricing the PS3 below stand-alone Blu-ray players. The PS3 is challenged on that side.
